Semiconductor Products manufacturer MediaTek announces ‘Dimensity 800 chipset’ for mid-range smartphone with 5G support. The MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC will be launched in Q1 2020, and soon after that it will be available for smartphones manufacturers. MediaTek confirmed the official launch of Dimensity 800 chipset in Q1 2020.
During its Product Communication Conference, MediaTek announced its plan to release all new chipset with 5G support in 2020. MediaTek will trade this chipset with the name of ’MediaTek Dimensity 800’. The MediaTek Dimensity 800 is the latest SoC chipset for mid-range and upper mid-range smartphones.
Last week MediaTek had launched the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G chipset for premium flagship devices. The Dimensity 1000 5G will have four high-end Cortex-A77 CPU for outstanding performance. Now the company announced Dimensity 800 for mid-range mobile phones which will be released in the first quarter of 2020. The new SoC chipset is said to be designed for mid-range to upper-midrange premium devices.
As per the reports, the new chipset MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC will be officially launched in the first quarter of 2020 and soon after that it will be used in smartphones. The new models of smartphones are expected to come in the second quarter in the market.
MediaTek announced Dimensity 800 SoC, but detailed specification of the product like transistor size, clock speed and other details still not revealed. As per reports, the company will share detailed specification of Dimensity 800 SoC at the time of release of chipset during Q1 2020.
MediaTek may have to compete with the high end chipsets like Samsung’s Exynos 9810 Snapdragon 855 and Huawei’s Kirin 990 SoC.
For the processing of graphics the new MediaTek chip will use the Mali-G77 MP9 GPU. The company will use Helio M70 5G modem and integrate it with the SoC to make the system more compact and to provide superior performance.
